[ dabble ] Everyone has 5.5 Litres of Blood

Featured as one of the 2010 CNN Heroes Narayanan Krishnan’s work in Madurai, India is a perfect example of sameness in action.

Through his non-profit organisation, the Akshaya Trust, Narayanan Krishnan helps restore human dignity by feeding the homeless and poor on the busy city streets.

In a country where a caste system already defines strong lines between people, Narayanan Krishnan’s philosophy that everyone has 5.5 litres of blood and is therefore equal, is simple and powerful. His goal, to make those he helps feel like human beings, sees Narayanan and his team erasing some very deep-set divisions.
