The list would be long if you were to name all the differences between the Philippines and Dubai, but for Lani it’s all in the stars. 
Without electricity in her rural home there were no lights to wash out the night sky and the stars were always overhead and always ready to be admired. 

Leaving the familiarity of home and the comfort of everything she knew to work overseas was a massive step for Gloria. 

Thelmas’ time in Dubai began eight years ago when she traveled over from the Philippines to visit her sister. She never really had any intention of staying long-term, but found work helping her sister as a cleaner, and with a few cousins also living in Dubai, she decided to update her visit visa and stay on.
